History: Frame-off restration (2004). The bike has non-matching numbers as a pristine frame was used for the restoration. It's loaded with over $5000 in upgrades, all the "proper" stuff for Duc-lovers.

The sound is amazing. IMO the 888 is by far the best sounding Ducati ever made, as it combines the 2 valve old school sound (like my old 900 Superlight) and the 4 valve head that was the genesis of the 916-generation top end.

Condition: The bike is in very good condition. However, it's not a show bike, and it has spent plenty of time up Angeles Crest Highway, so it has some small rock chips and such. Minor blemishes are noted below.

Incomplete Items: It is missing the "Campione Del Mondo" decals from the white portion of the tail section. The tail section has a misplaced small AGIP triangle decal right on top (it should be on top the gas tank but my paint guy erred). It is missing a couple bodywork fasteners but everything is bolted up tight. Because I went with a bar end mirror (the OEM mirrors just have you look at your shoulders) it could use some mirror block plates but I haven't found any I like yet. The Ohlins adjustable shock is about due for a service and re-sealing.

Price: Bone stock 888's in decent unrestored condition seem to go for $6000-8000 these days. With the caveat that it could use a couple minor fiddly bits but runs exceptionally well and is dripping with the best Ducati goodies, I think $7500 is a fair price. I will ship anywhere in the USA for $750 additional using JC Motors (motorcycleshippers.com), who I have had ship bikes before with great results.

Why I'm selling it: I love this bike. But with my spinal fusion it just hurts too much to ride it any more. Let's face it, the Duc superbikes already have a seriously aggressive riding posture (a la 916 series). And it's way too expensive to sit in my garage not being ridden. I hope that another person will enjoy this bike as much as I have...

Best view of the Ferodo BrakeTech ductile iron "Axis" front rotors. Ductile iron performs significantly better than OEM Brembo rotors. Gold carriers, red floating buttons. Ferodo XRAC sintered pads. This is the best braking combination for any roadgoing (non-race) bike.

SDC10191.JPG

There is a slight ding in the fuel tank. It's so small that photos don't show it and you have to run your fingers over it to feel it. That's how small it is.

SDC10175.JPG

Bucci billet crankcase breather.

SDC10176.JPG

Note the blemish on the right side of the tail section under-tray. It was a cutting mistake when we cut off the huge rear OEM piece that hung down.

SDC10177.JPG

Because we started this project bike with a pristine new frame, the title is "non-matching numbers" so the odometer isn't correct on the title. However, all engine mechanical parts are from the same bike and the speedometer is correct for the engine mileage.

SDC10178.JPG

Cycle Cat gold billet massive triple clamp, carbon fiber gauge cover, 996 brake master cylinder, Mad Duc gold billet reservoir covers.

SDC10179.JPG

Evoluzione gold billet clutch slave cylinder, Paulimoto
billet crankshaft sprocket cover.

SDC10181.JPG

In 2009 I changed all the radiator hoses to the blue SAMCO
888SPO-specific kit (versus generic hoses bent to fit).

SDC10174.JPG

Barnett carbon fiber clutch, Barnett gold billet clutch basket (unlike the REALLY weak OEM Italian unit) that you cannot see but makes the clutch last much longer, red Bucci billet pressure plate, gold Paulimoto vented clutch cover.

SDC10183.JPG

CRG gold billet roll-a-click levers. There are a couple surface scratches from when I was turning the bike and the back of the glove fingers scraped the fairing a bit.

SDC10184.JPG

Right side fairing in beatiful condition.

SDC10185.JPG

Left side fairing in beautiful condition. Note the missing upper fastener. I have the fasteners, but it needs the backing piece. Fairing holds nice and tight. Note the single bar-end mirror (I think it looks a whole lot better than seeing your shoulders in the OEM mirrors).

SDC10187.JPG

Note the missing "Campione Del Mondo" decals from the area below the number. Corbin solo seat with tri-colore insert and red piping. Also note the misplaced decal on the upper rear cowl that is under the clearcoat.

SDC10188.JPG

Ferodo/Braketech Superlite rear floating rotor, Pirelli Diablo Corsa tires, Spiegler braided stainless rear line kit.

SDC10189.JPG

Ferracci carbon fiber exhaust cans are still in excellent condition and sound great.

SDC10190.JPG

DID 520VM chain with gold alloy rear sprocket and AFAM hardened steel front sprocket.

A good shot (during the restoration) showing the Ducati Performance carbon fiber belt covers (Bucci high tensile kevlar belts underneath). Also not visible is the Nichols Manufacturing lightened flywheel (making the engine spin up SO much faster).

Front 41mm Showa forks rebuilt with all Race-Tech components for much better adjustability than OEM. I'm a big guy, so it is sprung for a 215lb rider. We did a gold valve kit, slick inner and outer fork bushings, and of course new oil seals and dust seals. Carbo-Tech front carbon fiber fender.
